People will always find ways to optimize weapons and movement in competitive games. Although this is the nature of games you play to win, many people gravitate towards unusual tactics and weapons.
The M16 is not an automatic weapon, so you can’t just hold the trigger until your adversary falls. However, two quick bursts are more than enough to get the job done if you’re accurate.
Also, the M16 is surprisingly reliable and stable.
This might not be the kind of weapon most CoD players like to use, but I certainly have fun with it.

The M16 is one of the most powerful assault rifles in MW2, with serious damage from any range. Two quick bursts to the chest should be enough to put your opponent down before they can turn and react.
However, like any gun in Modern Warfare 2, it does have its drawbacks. The attachments listed above will take your M16 to the next level and help it become the best possible gun for you.
Muzzle: Forge-Tac Castle Comp
Firstly, one issue we need to get to grips with is the recoil on the M16. While it isn’t atrocious, it can certainly be improved upon. Equip the Forge-Tac Castle Comp muzzle to help reduce recoil and make the gun more manageable at range.
As the M16 only requires a few quick bursts to kill, getting to grips with the recoil will surely help you win more gunfights from range.
Rear Grip: Sakin ZX Grip
Another way to reduce the recoil on the M16 is to utilize the Sakin ZX Grip as your rear grip. Combining this with the Forge-Tac Castle Comp is a great way to significantly reduce recoil and help you hone in on your opponent’s head.
Underbarrel: VX Pineapple Vert Grip
Although it shouldn’t be your go-to option for engaging in fights with the M16, there will be situations where you are forced to utilize hip fire to win a 1v1. Because of this, it is worth adding the VX Pineapple Vert Grip, as it will allow you to increase your hip-fire accuracy and gun-kick control.
Stock: Demo Fade Pro Stock
As with any assault rifle, without the right attachments, the M16 can slow down your movement and make you less mobile than if you are running an SMG. Sure, you don’t need to have the same mobility as an SMG class, as you won’t be engaging in as many close fights or working your way around the map as quickly. However, mobility is still an extremely important aspect of any class in Modern Warfare 2.
The Demo Fade Pro Stock increases your mobility by improving the M16’s sprint and walk speed.
Optic: Cronen Mini Red Dot
Finally, we opted for the Cronen Mini Red Dot optic, allowing us to gain more accuracy in medium-range fights, which is essential for an Assault Rifle on any map.
Although there are other ways to use this weapon, this loadout will work well in most situations. It makes the M16 reliable while maintaining its firepower at any distance.

Maybe you are not going for a balanced weapon. Generally speaking, the M16 is not the best weapon forrunning and gunning.
Although it might also depend on playstyle, Submachine Guns are usually better for that purpose.
On top of that, you might need a loadout that you can use to unlock all the other M16 attachments, which is when this one comes in.
That said, plenty of players run around with a sniper, so you might be able o make the M16 work that way with this loadout. It is also decent enough for you to level up a bit and start tinkering with the gun until it fits what you need.
As for the attachments chosen in this alternative loadout, they provide stability, bullet speed, and damage.
Please note that they will make your weapon heavier. This will hurt your Aim Down Sight Speed in exchange for Recoil Control.
This alternative build for the M16 provides a lot of firepower and benefits you way more for good positioning and preemptive aiming.
